Dentikid Barij® Topical Gel

Alleviation of pain and inflammation of the gums during teething

Teething is a major source of concern for parents and physicians and can be a very exhausting and distressing period for parents, especially young parents, who might not be able to recognize the symptoms of teething in their child or not be able to alleviate the distress of the child. Teething is a natural development process in which the first or deciduous teeth emerge through the gum and the crown of teeth are almost finally formed. This process begins at about 4-8 months of age and ends at about two years later. It is generally believed that the emergence of the teeth though bone and gum causes pain. The signs and symptoms of teething are not entirely known and comprise of a vast range of unspecific symptoms including: anxiety, biting, diarrhea, congestion, coughing, pulling of the ears, drooling, fever (11.7%), inflammation and painfulness of the gums (95.9%), loss of appetite, weakness, skin rashes around the mouth, catarrh (27.3%) and sleep disorders. To manage the symptoms of the child during teething various pharmacological, non-pharmacological, complementary and alternative methods are used; for instance, use of acetaminophen for reducing pain, or cooling of the teething spot to reduce inflammation of the gum. Rubbing of such plants as clove, chamomile, salvia and althea on the gums alleviates the pain. Clove has anesthetic and analgesic effects; with its anti-inflammatory effects, chamomile helps reduce inflammation, and therefore, pain; apart from having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, salvia is effective in protecting the gum and strengthening it. Furthermore, having anti-inflammatory effects, and being absorbed through the swollen gum, provitamin B5 stimulates the healing process. Dentikid Barij Topical Gel contains chamomile, salvia, and provitamin B5 and is highly effective in reduction of pain and inflammation of the gum and its strengthening and healing, so that the child can pass the teething period with minimum pain, weakness and loss of appetite, and the parents can also pass this period with minimum concern and distress.

During the teething period, 3-4 times per day, apply a small amount of the gel on your finger and massage unto the irritated gums of the kid.
